You were unlucky that your cities were in the path of my main armies. And I think I was supposed to rush. Attacked Marcus, too where possible <smiletext1>

well, I'll put my 5 cents here.

I could've fend off gladis OR Marcus at the time, but they had (coincidentally?) attacked almost at the same time which made me hard-pressed. Yes, marcus was smart about it and tried to sweet-talk, while sending his troops north, to take a hold of my coastal cities, but at this many games played I've learned who can be trusted <smiletext0>

As for the aftermath, when I ran with the remaining stacks, it was definitely not a co-op, when suddenly everyone decided to wolf on me. So yes, I guess no one is protected by alliances here. For what it is worth - I think everyone should not be allowed to make peace/alliance, that way there would be no need to wait for 1 turn timer to back-stab someone.

Thanks, gladis!

Well, in a Game of Thrones scenario, I would think that knowing the peace/attack rules would be important!

I am assuming that this is not a coop game. As such, trying to get a good position for if/when the Night King has been defeated seems like a smart thing to do. And yes, gladis is correct, this could be done to me, and I need to know what the rules are.

If it IS a coop game, well, someone should let Jon Snow know. It wasn't me who killed him off. <smiletext1>

btw, the reason I need to ask is because I have never, in all my AOW3 games, had such a situation come up. I have never actually broken the peace with anyone, so I don't know how it works.

Make no mistake Henry make alliances where it suits him. I have other games where he convince opposition to make an alliance with him to alter the odds, for HIM.

So I would think very  hard about what he writes.

You could be wrong and Henry is asking whether other people (=you) can do this to him <smiletext1>

Interesting that you are philosophizing about attacking people you are in peace with, never mind an alliance, which will work different.

I guess this is the end of the alliance and everyone need to be on the guard from you. Long live the Night King.

PS. I will do you a favour and save you one, I declare war on you.

I always thought that technically, you can break peace and attack on the same turn. That was the case with Shadow Magic. When I played Shadow Magic, nobody played that way, though. There was an informal rule that you could not break peace and attack on the same turn against human opponents.

I'll test it out. I always assumed AoW3 had the same technical rules, but maybe not!

Are you only asking for technically stuff? As Fluks said, you should test it in single player. I think he is right that you need to wait a turn. An exception are Independent cities, who can be attacked right away.
I think you can declare war right away though.

To follow up on my chat question, what are the rules for this game when it comes to breaking peace/alliance? I always thought you need to wait a turn after breaking the peace before attacking, but I wanted to double check. This seems like a scenario where it could turn out to be important!

So if someone breaks the peace on turn 1, they can't attack until turn 2, is that right?

And can someone break an alliance and peace in the same turn? Or would it be break alliance in turn 1, break peace in turn 2, attack turn 3?

Apologies for the delay.  I was on vacation and thought I would get a chance to play, but I didn't.
