JabSt will play as my partner in this tournament. I did not see a way to register onto the list of tournament teams. Controlled by and admin I assume.

We already have such a table for the duel tournament. Checking the combinations for all the rounds would take time for the judges. Not checking them would be a mistake because we saw already twice in the duel tournament players who selected a forbidden race/class and started their match unspotted by the judges and then the matches had to be replayed.

I am personally not in favour of making it mandatory to change class and race each turn. I like the fact that you need to master several combos but mastering 4 or more seem too difficult to me and it's not very fun to play a race/class you have never played before in a tournament match.

The issue with AD and Necro is not an unintended consequence of the balance mod, it's something that was overlooked in the balance mod because we focused first on the most pressing issues. And several topics were not dealt with properly because of a lack of feedback from the community, which prevented changes from being refused or accepted.
(REMINDER: still need feedback from the majority of players who did not express an opinion on - for those who already have, no need to repeat it <smiletext0> -
Ne04a
Inflict Despair causes "Holy Weakness" (non-stackable) and "Despair" (stackable) on the target and is strength 9 (non-stackable). Holy Weakness gives 30% Spirit weakness. Despair gives -200 morale. (was Inflict Despair is strength 10, causes "Despair": 20% Spirit weakness, -200 morale and stackable)
Ne09
Energy Drain has a spirit strength 10 chance of draining 75% of the target’s MP and is non-stackable (was 50% and stackable)
GC14
Amok the Beastfriend starts with Awaken Spirit (was Befriend Animal)
Velvet the Assassin’s Hero Slayer ability is correctly shown in Unit Panel (his skill only works against HERO units, not LEADER units)
Yarati the Spellstealer starts with Steal Enchantment)
I suggest we aim for the release of a v1.16 after the 1st round of the tournament, fixing remaining issues with AD and Necro.

@gladis

That looks much easier.  It would save me lots of time
going back through the finished game list.   :}

Every player could note his combinations by himself.
Or the judges fill in an Excel-sheet or something like that. Documentation would be better than looking up
Or make a document available for every player so we can fill in our Race/Class at the end of each match or whenever we want. Look at my little example. The numbers indicate the rounds of the tournament, so it could be checked.

Once the table is set up, it would be no effort for the judges to keep it up to date. It is clearly marked, whether and when a race/class was selected. Or am I missing a point?
It would be great to post it after each round, so the players don´t need to check the former combinations of their opponent  This would be way too much effort for me xD

@Olop, Cbower

For one player/team to check opponents history, takes 5-10min max.
For judges to do the same takes 32*5-10.

So, my suggestion would be the host check opponents, and states "please be aware that you are not eligble for the following..." The opponents can then do the same/verify hosts comments.

So before the game is underway, this should/could be done.

Obviously, the final decision on whether this will be of any use have not been declared.

Just my opinion <smiletext0>

I did the same in the last tournament. The honor code "should" work, but I just don't think it's that simple. I think that would invite player's to make mistakes, and cause issues for the judges that they would have to settle. Say your in round 6, You need to look up 5 rounds of games, for yourself, and your opponents jotting down each. Then in round 6, 20 turns in you discover your opponents, and you see they have repeated a class. What happens next, is the game rehosted, or is it up to the player? Also it could drag on the schedule. What happens when someone discovers in round 6 someone repeated a class in round 4? I think a verification step will prevent things from becoming issues, not because people are cheater's but because people make mistakes. Just my opinion

If the game results are up to date, then the players can
verify.  In the last tournament I looked through the previous
games my opponent played to see what combos were played
before deciding on the combo I would play.

In fact, it takes so long to play games I could not remember
what combos I had played, so again I looked back at the
results of my previous games to make sure I did not repeat.

This works if the results are up to date.

I do like the idea of being able to play each race/class only once until you have exhausted all the classes, but I also don't want to cause too much work for the admins. If this is a route that we are serious about we would need a tool for the admins to use to keep track of everyone's selections. It's not a difficult program to setup, but it would take some time. Spreadsheets and the like still seem like it would require a fair amount of effort on the admins. Also, I am not sure how much support actually exists, it seems supported by people that are vocal on here but does that represent the majority of the 32 players? Hard to tell since we haven't even finished collecting players.

Regardless, I will think a little bit more on a the programming side and see what I can come up with as a proof of concept.(end of the week maybe) Still if other's have common sense solutions for managing 32 players selections over several rounds please share here. Maybe if we solve the management problem then this would be a more appealing option for all.

It seems the support for "only one time" for race/class is quite strong, and I would also back it! However, I fully understand the consequences this would have for the judges, an impossible job to keep track off!

I would however be behind a "gentleman agreement" - that before the match start, the host will simply ask, are you in favour for not playing previous class/race?
If yes, it's simple, we check previous matches of opponents, and vice versa, and agree to not play those.

I suspect that every change to the mod has unexpected
consequences.  This makes it next to impossible to even
the races and classes out.  Since the races and classes are
not equal (and probably never will be) I would suggest you
cannot replay a class or race until you have played them all.

Then the decision when to use the power combos becomes
more interesting.  Do you wait for a specific opponent?  Or
do you lead with your best in the first round regardless?

This is similar to deciding when to throw your best pitcher in
a tournament.  Do you go with him in the first game or save
him for a stronger opponent.

I suspect this rule would hurt me as much as anyone else since
I usually play a select few race/class combos.

I also agree that Necro is too powerful. AD appears very powerful as well. I think it is probably too late to fix it with a mod or settings change. I am playing tigran AD and a Necro Dwarf, they both feel too powerful.

Warlord is my favorite class, but like the other classes I believe it is just going to struggle against the top classes. It's not going to stop me from trying. Perhaps though we could ban combining powerful races, tigran/dwarf with powerful classes AD/Necro? You could still play your class and race that you like but just have to spread it out. It's a small boost to the other class's that they can pair with the top races or atleast not have to fight a top combo. Personally I just don't think I can spend the whole tournament playing those two combo's over and over.

1 Vote for single race
Being a brand new player in PBEM I would prefer to play my chosen race but would be happy to play multiple races if need be.   As someone else mentioned I prefer one race because that race reflects my style of play and personality.  But happy to be here in any case
Cheers everyone

Well if others make the same conclusion, i would encourage more changes to Necromancer. I clear most sites with weak, and I'm sure other do to, which is against the purpose? So remove healng for necromancer and make it a skill similar to other classes?

I agree it's banter and no problem with it, but the player pool is not supposed to be a chat box. People receive an email each time we write so when it's chat like that, it should be in the chat.

Yes, agree about Dwarf Necro, and more generally Necro.

I would classify below as banter, but yes, better not engage in conversations with certain members. I'm trialling Dwarf Necromancer, seems way overpowered for weak start
